The distillery’s Dead Run Rum is Britain’s best spiced rum according to the Great British Food Awards 2022. They source local and regional botanicals for their small batch spirits, encapsulating life on Scotland’s West Coast. Get a glimpse of Audrey, the distillery’s beloved copper still, at Bute Yard. Bute Yard’s first success story, Bute Brew Co, is back by popular demand and has reopened for business, establishing a new home for craft brewing on Bute. The brewery will run its tap room at Bute Yard, offering a variety of beer made on site, including craft lager, fruity pale ales and IPA. Watch this space as the brewery is inspired to bring us many more tasty inventions in the future. Tasting flights are available, booking required.

Established in 1888, the Isle of Bute Smokehouse is steeped in craft heritage, hand-curing and smoking salmon, trout and herring in their original kiln. Now entirely women-owned and led, the smokehouse continues to provide the very best quality and provenance with their oak-smoked Scottish salmon, trout and kippers. They deliver to your door or you can find them operating and retailing from Bute Yard.

ButeKitchen is a social enterprise based on the Isle of Bute, created to strengthen and support the food and drink offering of the island. ButeKitchen operates as a membership body and represents and actively promotes Bute provenance on and off island. The members work collectively to increase awareness of Bute-based businesses, through PR, markets, education & learning. The company structure enables us to access funding to further benefit our members as they seek to improve their own offering, and establish Bute as a food and drink destination of the future.

The vision of founder Johnny Bute, 7th Marquess of Bute, to create a community project that will deliver on goals to grow the Isle of Bute economy and provide ongoing opportunities for the community, could not have materialised without the hard work of mainly local, but also a few regional companies. They are the first to have benefited from Bute Yard, but have also paved the way for many others who will enter Bute Yard as suppliers, producers and small businesses, tenants, trainees, staff, event organisers and event-goers.
